Happy Valentine's Day Butterflies

Today's card was inspired by four different Blog Challenges.....Color Throwdown, Sunday Stamps, Colour Me, and the Card Concept.

For Color Throwdown we were asked to use Baked Brown Sugar, Regal Rose and Sky Blue. While I had the last two, I substituted Desert Sand for the Baked Brown Sugar.



For Colour Me we were given freedom with our chosen colors, however they did ask that we use 5 colors. So I added Daffodil Delight and Pear. I love the way these colors all came together.

For Sunday Stamps they provided the card sketch. I pretty much followed that to the letter.

For Card Concept we were asked to use Texture on the card. I did so by using textured cardstock and by embossing the heart and the white background paper. Also I used embosslits for the butterflies. So I have lots of texture going on here as well.

This ended up being a very simple card to put together and it would be so easy to change up the color combinations and create several of these in no time flat. It was a great way to use up some of my scraps as well.

Mojo Monday Challenge #330

Taking a quick break from the Flu and Valentine's cards to participate in Mojo Monday's Challenge #330. We are breaking from the traditional A2 card and instead, creating Tall and Skinny cards. I went with the 3.5" X 6".

The paper is from the Sarita collection from Close To My Heart (CTMH) and the stamps are from the You Only Live Once (B1434) hostess set from CTMH as well.

Loving You Is Easy To Do 3 x 3 Card

Do you usually stick with the traditional 4.25 x 5.5 card (A2)? I know I sure do. I rarely make a larger card and I am even less likely to make a smaller card. But today I decided to go with something out of the ordinary for me and made this 3 x 3 card.

The papers came from a paper stack that I purchased from Paper Wishes. I cut the red at 3 x 3 and then the gray at 3 x 1. I then attached them to a 3 x 3 card base. I added the ribbon to seamlessly marry the two patterned papers. Next I stamped the sentiment on a piece of white cardstock and trimmed the ends with a punch. The stamp, ribbon and punch were all from Stampin Up.

Oh, before I attached the patterned paper to the cardstock, I punched out three little hearts using a punch from Stampin Up. But first I stamped some hearts from a tree stamp, also from Stampin Up in black before I attached the gray paper. Sorry about that.

I used Liquid Glass on all of the hearts, including the one on the sentiment. This helps them stand out a little better and adds additional dimension to the card.

Owl Love You - Valentine's Card

My daughter just loves everything "Owly" so I dug out this stamp that I purchased from Micheal's years ago and put a card together using a sketch from CardMaker magazine's Spring 2014 edition. You can find it on page 98.

All of the cardstock and patterned papers are from Close To My Heart, except the Real Read. That cardstock and the ribbon are both from Stampin Up. I used markers to color the stamp.

Love puts the Fun in Together

Welcome back! Today I did a simple card to put a smile on your face. I love the sentiment because it is exactly how I feel about LOVE!  This sentiment comes from the Card Chatter - Love from Close To My Heart. The frame stamp is from the Frame Flair Flair from Close To My Heart and was used three times. First on the face of the card, then on a piece of red cardstock and then lastly on a piece of Daisy White cardstock. I layered the top two pieces using 3-D foam tape and then placed a Bitty Sparkle on the four corners.

One of my favorite stamps to use on Valentine's cards is the Heart Grass, which is part of the Valentine Defined stamp set from Stampin Up. It is fun and whimsical. I finished off the card by cutting a slit in the base of the card and tying a bow around the front of the card.

Valentine's Continues

I went through some of my stamp sets looking for some fun ones to continue my Valentine's series. I used two sets from Stampin Up, Valentine Defined for the little hearts and strand of hearts and Clearly for You for the birds that I placed on the heart strand. The sentiment stamp is from Momenta and I found it at Michael's just the other day. 

I cut out the heart border and the three heart shapes with my Cricut Craft-Room using a variety of cartridges. I need to be better about taking notes when I am working with the Craft-Room.

Valentine's Day Is My Favorite

Yes, Valentine's Day is one of my favorite holidays. I love not only celebrating the love I have for my wonderful husband, but also the love I have for my children, family and friends. They are all a very special part of my life and who I am. I cherish each one of my relationships and love making special cards for everyone. So that said, I am going to be working on creating some cards for this occasion.

Here is the first one that I am doing and I am using a sketch from Mojo Monday (MOJO327).

I absolutely love making cards with white, black and red with just a touch of bling! The sentiment is from Close To My Heart  called Beautiful Friendship and this card will be going to a very special friend that helped me out during a difficult time last year. The hearts were made using two different punches and an emboslit from Stampin Up. The red glitter paper was purchased years ago, I believe from Michaels.
